Common Questions

  • How long will treatment last?

Unfortunately, there is not a set time. Everyone’s circumstances are unique and the length of time therapy depends on your desire for commitment, the type of therapy you are seeking and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy. Additionally you are in control or your treatment. You may begin and end counseling at any time.

  • How often do I come to therapy?

Therapy typically takes place weekly. After progress is demonstrated, typically reduced to bi-weekly, monthly and as needed. Speak to your therapist about their recommendation for you, which may be based on your symptoms.

  • Can therapy last forever?

No, although there is no expiration date on therapy. You’re goal should be to not need your therapist. Termination is a goal from the start of treatments. Speak to your therapist about what the termination process looks like.

  • Who benefits from therapy?

Everyone! Regardless of your symptoms, it is beneficial to stay teachable and work to be better. However, not every therapist “fits all” you need to find a therapist in which you feel comfortable with and can confide in.

  • Do I have to be Christian to get therapy at Divina Family Counseling?

No. We have a personal Christian faith. In fact, it is this faith that has moved us to seek to counsel and help those who are wounded and hurting emotionally.

  • If I come in for counseling, are you going to Evangelize or preach at me?

No. We are professional and our role is to care of the soul and heal wounds. We do believe that there are principles that are universal to mental health and we see ourselves helping many churches, schools and organizations in the communities we serve. If you feel like we are, just ask us to stop!

  • Will you be able to "fix" me or my loved one(s)?

Therapy does not “fix” problems. Therapy should help shed light on underlining issues experienced. With the help of your therapist you should gain perspective and ability to use problem-solving skills.

  • What form of payment do you accept?

Zelle, Cash, Debit & Credit Cards are accepted for payment. There should be an active card on file at all times . Copays, deductibles, any fees are collected at the start of service. If you don’t want to use the card on file at time of payment please let staff or clinician know immediately.
